Czech Centres are an institute representing art, culture and science from Czech Republic abroad. They publish a yearly report presenting highlights from their program, main topics and important collaborators. The network has 26 branches worldwide and is headquartered in Prague.
problem
Designing a system for presenting a year of events at 20+ branches of Czech Centres worldwide
A flexible and rigorous design was needed to unify various amounts of text and diverse image styles. The report had to be unique, but respect the basic brand identity.
Solution
Grids and careful selection of images creates a stable framework on which the visually rich publication stands
The report's central theme was moving programs
online and experimenting with new formats. I based my concept on the idea of varying formats, using relatively narrow columns for body text
while other elements exist in the wide margins, often intruding and
influencing the central text columns.
Grids and generous spacing create a regular but lively rhythm and tonality of selected images creates harmonious double-pages.
